piano Trio

This session was similar in nature to the string trio, testing out different stereo recording systems for a chamber ensemble. The systems used were O.C.T., Blumlein-Z, ORTF, Spot mics, and two Spaced A/B’s. One A/B was pointed at the ensemble and the other towards the hall for ambience. I’ve included two videos that explain the microphone placements and acoustics in further detail.

Due to the narrow spacing between the players fitting the recording angle of the Blumlein well, I went with it as the main system with the addition of the spot mics.
